How to use this guide
Know the remit.
Work as one.
These role descriptions translate official GAA guidance into a practical structure for Costa Gaels.
The Chairperson, Secretary, Treasurer and Communications Officer sections follow official GAA role profiles. The Kids Officer section reflects the formal Club Children’s Officer guidance, while the Health and Wellbeing Officer follows the role now described by the GAA as the Healthy Club Officer. Assistant, playing-section, commercial and CCC liaison duties are club-level adaptations of relevant GAA guidance.

Good governance
Every role has
clear boundaries.
Officers lead within their remit, but important decisions remain collective and subject to the rules, policies and approvals that govern the club.
Decide together
Major policy, spending and strategic decisions belong to the Executive, not one officer acting alone.
Record the work
Official decisions, finances, correspondence and handovers should be documented and retained.
Escalate correctly
Safeguarding, discipline, legal and competition issues must follow the proper reporting route.
Share the load
Delegation is encouraged, while the named officer remains responsible for oversight and reporting.
Official guidance
Built from
GAA resources.
This page is a practical Costa Gaels guide, not a replacement for the current Official Guide, governing-body rules, safeguarding procedures or local competition regulations.
